Discussion:
Polycom Soundpoint IP 331

So I have been looking on the Polycom web site and have come away
confused. I am wanting to monitor the status of a single call park from a
Polycom Soundpoint IP 331. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know if it
can be done on this model?

The datasheet and web page for the phone doesn't say so, but the "Compare
models" says it can.

Mainly sticking with the 331 because we already have the phones. When ever
I check the "Subscribe to presence" box, the speed dial disappears from the
phone. It works fine on the 650.

You need to have firmware 3.2.7 (not 3.3 or above!) and a recent version of
bootrom (4.3.1 i think is the latest).

What version are you using? Is the phone wiped (local reset) since they
used it previously and configured only by sipx?

So I reset the phones local config, no go.
Then I updated to bootrom 4.3.1 and Firmware 3.2.7 and still no go. under
the user in speed dials I have the Park line added as well as the presence
check box checked. Under the users phone the BLF resource is set. Am I
missing anything there, or is this just not going to work on this phone?

Thanks as always,

I don't think I saw this mentioned, is this sipXecs 4.4 or 4.6?

In either case I guess please yum update to the latest... There was a
recent patch for 4.6 that addresses this.

Sorry, I did send the profile between each change. It is in 4.4, I
performed a yum update last night after updating the bootrom. I have also
tired another phone that has bootrom 4.3.1 and firmware 3.2.4.

I will fire up my 4.6 machine tonight and pull the updates and see if it
works on there maybe.

Thanks.

You need to have firmware 3.2.7 (not 3.3 or above!) and a recent
version of bootrom (4.3.1 i think is the latest).
What version are you using? Is the phone wiped (local reset) since
they used it previously and configured only by sipx?
Post by Bryan Anderson
Mainly sticking with the 331 because we already have the phones.
When ever I check the "Subscribe to presence" box, the speed dial
disappears from the phone. It works fine on the 650.

So I have been looking on the Polycom web site and have come away
confused. I am wanting to monitor the status of a single call park from a
Polycom Soundpoint IP 331. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know if it
can be done on this model?
The datasheet and web page for the phone doesn't say so, but the
"Compare models" says it can.

You do want to make sure that you are on firmware 3.2.6 and bootrom 4.3.1.

You can upload the zip files in Devices -> Device Files.

under the user in speed dials I have the Park line added as well as the
presence check box checked. Under the users phone the BLF resource is
set. Am I missing anything there, or is this just not going to work on
this phone?
Thanks as always,

Always a good idea to reset a foreign phone if it has been used.
Post by Bryan Anderson
bootrom is 4.1.3.0052
firmware is 3.2.5.0508
I have not tried a local reset, and I have only ever linked it to sipx.

You need to have firmware 3.2.7 (not 3.3 or above!) and a recent
version of bootrom (4.3.1 i think is the latest).
What version are you using? Is the phone wiped (local reset) since
they used it previously and configured only by sipx?

Mainly sticking with the 331 because we already have the phones.
When ever I check the "Subscribe to presence" box, the speed dial
disappears from the phone. It works fine on the 650.

So I have been looking on the Polycom web site and have come
away confused. I am wanting to monitor the status of a single call park
from a Polycom Soundpoint IP 331. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know
if it can be done on this model?
The datasheet and web page for the phone doesn't say so, but
the "Compare models" says it can.

Before you spend any more time on this, the Polycom 32x/33x phones do not
have BLF monitoring capabilities. You must have a 450 or higher (excluding
conference phones) to perform presence monitoring.

That's what I was afraid. As I said in my original email, the Polycom
website seems to be a bit confused on that. the "Compare models" says yes,
but the rest says no. Like some one else said, it has two lines and the
light, it should.

Thanks,

-Bryan Anderson
