Discussion:
Snom 370 Delayed outgoing calls on 4.6

I have 2 snom 370 phones that I had working until I set up presence monitoring (I'm assuming) because since yesterday morning when I got presence monitoring working properly they have had an issue with outgoing calls delaying for roughly 30 seconds before connecting. This is happening with both internal and external calls. My polycom phones and all the softphones (xlite 5, Bria 2.4 & 3.4.2) are working as expected without any delays.

Incoming calls to the snom phones is working flawlessly and presence is working fine as well. I've gone over the configuration of the phones several times and even upgraded the firmware to the latest version and still nothing. The only other option I haven't tried is factory resetting the phones and provisioning them again.

My current Version: sipXecs (4.6.0. 2012-09-14EDT14:09:34 ip-10-72-43-110.ec2.internal) installed via ISO

I'm planning to update tonight after hours to see if that provides any resolution but in the meantime; does anyone have any suggestions that I may be overlooking or overthinking?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Update:

I updated to the latest version (sipXecs (4.6.0. 2012-10-02EDT16:10:02 ip-10-72-43-110.ec2.internal) update unknown modified) and the problem continues.

I've also reset one of the snom phones and it is still delaying to connect any outbound call 30 - 45 seconds.

Thank you

Hello,

could you provide snapshot / pcap? I know Snom has good logging stuff
so maybe logs from phone too

Thanks,
George

Attached is a snapshot from a few moments ago and the "logs" from both phones.

**note that snom370_rec2-log.txt is from a phone that was reset so some details may be vastly different than the other file which is the auto-provisioned one (snom370_rec1-log.txt)

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for logs. From what I see in proxy and phone logs there are
some issues with TLS and certificates (invalid certs) do you have Snom
with TLS? If so, could you try a non TLS call or to upload again certs
on Snom phones?

George

BTW, noticed that you have phonelog service enabled so phone logs are
also in snapshot under /var/log/sipxpbx/phonelog

Thank you but TLS is not enabled on the snom phones or at least not that I can tell. Here are the "phonelogs" - maybe the complete logs can be more assistance.

Thank you.

Can you set Snom log level to log call messages too (so we'll see SIP
messages) and retry scenario / provide logsfrom phone again?

Here ya go. I did some calls to and from both internally and externally. The logs are attached.

Hm, I cannot figure out what's wrong, there were some logs in
sipXproxy.log within snapshot like the one below, can you please
double check check in Admin > Settings > PnP if Transport layer set
to UDP?

I'm sorry but I must be over looking "Admin > Settings > PnP" because I can't find it to check that setting for you.

Howver I did force the outbound proxy on the phones to use transport=udp and now, for whatever reason, the phone that I did NOT set this on is working properly again. Whereas the phone with the proxy configured with ,transport=udp is still not working

Thank you.

Ah, sorry, I meant in Snom admin interface, and check transport layer
setting (it should be on that page according to Snom

George,
Thanks for your assistance. I'm starting to think it may just be the phone itself. When I have them both using the same configuration pushed from the server 1 will work properly now and the other still has the same issues. Also, the problematic one doesn't pull the directory like the other one does. I've updated them both to the latest firmware from snom for the 370 model. Alternatively, if I change the configuration of the problem phone to not be a part of the same "phone group" as the other and be a standalone phone it will work properly. It still won't pull the directory but the calls connect as expected. I can add the directory manually but with this set up I have 2 working snom 370's.

I do think that part of the problem is related to the TLS settings built into the snom phones. The latest firmware doesn't provide an option to force UDP/TCP over TLS though. I'm not sure if it did in previous versions.

Anyway, I can push forward and circle back to this issue at a future date. I think I may start with these phones and try and convince them to move to a Polycom equivalent since they only need 2.

Again, thank you for your help, and if I come across any conclusion as to what the problem was/is I'll be sure to update the list to share the knowledge.

Thank you,
Geoff
