Discussion:
strangeness, 4.4 CDR

I had a sipx crash, while I was on a call.
The CDR still shows the call active.

I went to services->servers->[myserver], CDR and did a restart. didn't help

I logged on to console (root) and typed 'reboot' to reboot.

nothing, still shows call active.

(4.4 installed from i386 cd rom, data restored from a 4.2.1 cd rom
install, that was upgraded to 4.4 and then backed up)

yes, I did a yum upgrade (two weeks ago), and am just doing another one
now, but its only upgrading bind, dhcp initscripts and sudo.

Updated:
bind.i386 30:9.3.6-20.P1.el5_8.2 bind-libs.i386
30:9.3.6-20.P1.el5_8.2 bind-utils.i386 30:9.3.6-20.P1.el5_8.2
caching-nameserver.i386 30:9.3.6-20.P1.el5_8.2 dhclient.i386
12:3.0.5-31.el5_8.1 dhcp.i386 12:3.0.5-31.el5_8.1
initscripts.i386 0:8.45.42-1.el5.centos.1 sudo.i386
0:1.7.2p1-14.el5_8.2

I just restarted CDR again, after yum upgrade, and it said 'CDR [Failed]'

(I did a refresh, and restarted CDR), it restarted and the active call
entry that survived one crash, one CDR restart and one reboot, finally
went away.

Did you send the server its profiles and let those services restart?

usually you would restart the "CallResolver" (I try to do this from the CLI
(sipxprox -r CallResolver, then check it with sipxproc --state, to see if
it restarted or got stuck).

You said something about doing a yum update, but I see you did not update
any sipx rpm's, sending profiles won't help. What is the exact version of
4.4 you are running?

Actually the output of

sipxproc--state

would be helpful (in general).

Hmmm.

does /var/log/sipxpbx/sipxcallresolver.log
or
../sipxconfig.log

show anything of value here?

CDR's have to be flushed (written) to the postgres database. Until they are
written (call completes) postgres is not written too. I am curious if your
postrgres SIPXCDR database has an issue or if there is any type of
diskspace problem. Wild guesses until the logs are looked at...

/etc/hosts has not changed since 7/28:

ls -l /etc/hosts
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 175 Jul 28 22:49 /etc/hosts

neither has /etc/named.conf
ls -lt named.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root named 723 Jul 28 22:49 named.conf

there is no localhost zone.

ls -lt *zone*
-rw-r----- 1 root named 955 Jul 31 00:18 named.rfc1912.zones
[***@sip etc]# ls -lt *localhost*
ls: *localhost*: No such file or directory
[***@sip etc]#

reboot gets me this and port 8443 no longer responds.

ok...

I think the hosts file should say this. Then if it does, dig should refer
to the hosts file first in order of preference instead of looking it up:

/etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
<ipaddress> <fqdn> <hostname>
(ex: 10.1.2.3 sipx.mydomain.com sipx

on my sipx system, /etc/resolv.conf:
search "sipdomain" (without quotes)
nameserver 127.0.0.1
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4

my /var/named director has a localhost.zone file:

$TTL 86400
@ IN SOA @ root (
42 ; serial (d. adams)
3H ; refresh
15M ; retry
1W ; expiry
1D ) ; minimum

IN NS @

on 4.4 there are a few proprietary lines (not the case in 4.6) for the
named.conf file.

// WARNING: Name server configuration is a sipX automatically generated
file.
// Contents may be overwritten unless you change the mode to
"Manual".
// Available modes:
// "Master" - Master name server (on primary server).
// "Slave" - Slave named server (on distributed server).
// "Caching" - Caching only name server.
// "Manual" - Blocks future automatic updates.
// DNS_MODE="Manual"

The DNS mode is defaulted to Master, but by putting it to Manual it means
sipx will not overwirite changes. Are these lines still in yours?
