Project adds support for Karel phones
https://github.com/sayarsoft/sipXkarel
Source is AGPL. Contact Karel for details. I need to make plans to
remove it from build so thought I send along this informational

Hello,

Karel phones are essentially Yealinks. We have up-to-date yealink plugin (
https://github.com/siplabs/sipxyealink) with whatever open license (now
GPL) you need to include it to the build. We are ready to maintain and
improve it. Also we are working on Panasonic SIP phones, jitsi and
VOP support plugins.

Also, Yealink guys REALLY want to certify their phones with openUC/sipXecs
and we are ready to help with this until you communicate directly. Phones
are great and Yealink is open for whatever improvements you will require.

What do you think?

We would love to have their phones supported as well. We've tried to help
them get setup with sipXecs for them to work on the templates.

I believe they still have a couple firmware issues that they have been
unable to resolve with Karel to my knowledge.

All of those plugins would be welcome! George will probably pipe up. But
you need to sign a contributor agreement if you haven't already. Then,
create a Jira and attach the plugin code there.

Thanks!

Do you have a list of features known to work (or not work)?

We tried working with them about 2 years ago (they were very helpful and
had a developer sending us nightly builds) but some of the of the
advertised features where platform specific ie (Broadsoft), with no
plans to change.

For example, the following only worked with broadsoft.
RLS speed dials w/ presence
Paging groups

I'd love to see another competitor to polycom on the sipx platform.

Yealink also sent us a doc on the autoprovisiong feature, but it was not
well documented. Getting sipx extended to auto-provision yealink would
be a huge win.

Do you have any large deployments with yealink? Interested in hearing
your feedback. We tried one a while back and the phones had a
manufacturing defect that caused dhcp to fail. Yealink was gonna fix it
but it was too late for us. Wondering if relaibility has been improved.

I've never faced DSP issues as well. However I have only 10+ phones
installed, all T28.

I do see some issues with BLF, as I mentioned in
http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users/msg39977.html

Unfortunatelly, didn't have a chance to revisit. I still have some
logs/traces to look. Have you tried this scenario on your install, МОхаОл?

Picher, where that bug list come from? Old tests of yours?

Last week I was virtually introduced to a FAE from Yealink in China, in
order to better understand/investigate on BLF. We might get some help from
them as well.

We are working on adding support for the Panasonic
KX-TGP500/KX-TGP550 wireless DECT SIP sets. As soon as we have
something, we'll get a patch submitted.

Cheers!

Hello,
Karel phones are essentially Yealinks. We have up-to-date yealink plugin
(https://github.com/siplabs/sipxyealink) with whatever open license (now
GPL) you need to include it to the build. We are ready to maintain and
improve it. Also we are working on Panasonic SIP phones, jitsi and VOP
support plugins.
Also, Yealink guys REALLY want to certify their phones with openUC/sipXecs
and we are ready to help with this until you communicate directly. Phones
are great and Yealink is open for whatever improvements you will require.
What do you think?

Project adds support for Karel phones

Source is AGPL. Contact Karel for details. I need to make plans to
remove it from build so thought I send along this informational
message.

Isn't it a good time for something kinda "sipXforge" site to appear? :) I
also dream about "marketplace" because we would like to earn on
sipX/openUC-"ecosystem"-compatible addon solutions :)

This would be awesome. I was thinking once we get a critical mass of
add ons, then a little market place might make sense, but I wouldn't
stops folks from spending their time on one.

Framework is now in place to build addons but there's no
documentation. Until then you can look at some of these projects

Few example projects:

https://github.com/dhubler/sipXhomer
https://github.com/dhubler/sipXlang-de

Or really any of the sipX* projects in the main git repo but just put
your files into separate repo. sipXexample is a good example.

Plugins need to comply with sipxecs license however if you build a
standalone service running in it's own memory space, you can do
whatever you want.

Karel can take their source and develop it in house, but whatever
source that's available in github can be adapted as long as it
complies with license.
